Challenges
The challenge was to develop an integrated data acquisition (DAQ) system and documentation strategy for monitoring and recording physiological data, archiving and analyzing it from GE patient monitors and additional devices.
Solution
We suggested to enable the data from stand-alone devices to be incorporated into the hospital information system and to design a medical device data acquisition system utilizing a generalized interface. We used standard microcomputer design tools to implement the interface. User-friendly menus for task selection, data tables, graphs, and for hardcopy output were provided.
